zSpace recommended power and sleep settings

zSpace recommends or requires a small number of power settings for zSpace computers. These should be enabled by default on all current shipping units, but if needed, the instructions on how to view and enable these settings are noted below.

*This is a required setting for storage of laptops in charging carts. Setting this time higher could result in overheating of laptop during charging.

NOTE:  For the Laptop, the action on Lid Close should also be Sleep.

Default power profile is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages computer settings based on power needs. To set these, follow the below instructions.

  1. Open Settings by clicking the Windows Start Button and selecting the settings icon.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on Power & Sleep.
  4. Under Related settings, click on Additional power settings.
  5. Under Preferred plans, select the desired power profile.
  6. If you do not see your desired power profile, click on Show additional plans. Additional power plans will be available there.

Screen sleep time (monitor sleep) and PC sleep time are the amount of time for your monitor or hard disk to turn off. To set these, follow the below instructions. Some applications can prevent these settings from taking effect. These are recommended settings 

  1. Open Settings by clicking the Windows Start Button and selecting the settings icon.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on Power & Sleep.
  4. Depending if your computer has a battery or only AC power, there will be up to 2 options for each when "On battery power" or "When plugged in". For screen sleep time and PC sleep time, select the recommended settings.

Wireless power saver mode setting is to control the amount of power your wireless adapter uses. High power savings will decrease the performance of a wireless adapter. 

  1. Open Settings by clicking the Windows Start Button and selecting the settings icon.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on Power & Sleep.
  4. Under Related settings, click on Additional power settings.
  5. Under Preferred plans, look for the current active power plan. Select Change plan settings to the right of the current active power plan.
  6. Select Change advanced power settings.
  7. Expand Wireless Adapter Settings and Power Saving Mode.
  8. Select the recommended setting using the above table.
