How to check the version of your AMD Driver

AMD has two types of graphic cards, AMD Radeon and AMD FirePro series. This article shows AMD FirePro driver images but the steps are identical for AMD Radeon drivers.

Verify the driver you are currently using

FirePro GPU and using Windows 8.1 Windows 10

  1. Right click on the Windows Desktop and select AMD FirePro Settings or AMD Radeon Pro and AMD FirePro Settings. If you do not have one of these options you most likely are either using an old driver.
  2. Click on System.
  3. Click on Software and look at Driver Packaging Version.
  4. Compare your installed driver versus what is listed on this article here.

AMD Radeon GPU using Windows 7, 8.1, or Windows 10 or AMD FirePro using Windows 7

  1. Right-click on your Windows Desktop.
    • If you have a FirePro driver, select AMD FirePro Control Center.
    • If you have an AMD Radeon driver, select AMD Catalyst Control Center.
  2. Verify you are in advanced mode. In the upper right-hand corner of the window, select Preferences and Advanced View.
  3. Along the left column, select Information then Software.
  4. The driver version is outlined in red in the below screen shot.
  5. Please note. The driver version is everything listed before the first dash. Everything after the dash mark can be ignored.
