Zone: Adding, editing, and deleting application shortcuts

Article last updated:

By default, zSpace Zone is locked and the menu is not visible.  To unlock Zone, type Ctrl + L. If you have set a password, enter it in the dialog that appears. You will need to unlock the menu to edit, delete, or add application shortcuts.

To add applications to Zone:

  1. Select File -> Add Application from the menu bar.
  2. Locate the application’s .exe file, .bat file, or shortcut.
  3. Tip:  If you are adding zSpace-enabled applications to Zone, add the shortcut to the application as this contains the right parameters to launch in 3D Mode. You can find the shortcut in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\zSpace folder.
  4. Click on Open.
  5. The application appears as a tile in Zone.
  6. Type Ctrl+L to lock Zone again.  zSpace recommends that Zone always be locked unless performing certain functions.

To edit or delete applications from Zone.

  1. Select File -> Edit tiles. Once edit is select you will see icons start to shake.
  2. To edit icons click on any icon which you wish to edit. Once clicked a "Tile properties" window will open. Here you can edit the tile name, path, as well as set several other application properties.
  3. To delete icons, click ok or cancel to close the "Tile properties" window. Then click on the trash can in the upper left hand corner of the tile. Confirm delete by clicking ok.
  4. When done editing or deleting, click File -> Edit tiles to turn off tile edit mode.
  5. Type Ctrl+L to lock Zone again.  zSpace recommends that Zone always be locked unless performing certain functions.

Once you have set up one computer you can then copy the same settings to all your other computers running zSpace Zone. Please see this article here for setting up additional computers.
