How to check and run firmware update

This article shows you how to determine if a firmware update is required for your zSpace and if needed update your firmware. Updating the firmware and System Software of your zSpace to the most recent version can be vital for a proper functioning zSpace.

How to check your firmware versions zSpace 300 and zSpace 200

zSpace firmware is best checked by using zSpace Configuration Check. Please see zSpace Configuration Check for further details. You can also manually check your versions following the below steps. 

Windows 7 and 10

  1. From the Start Menu, select All Programs -> zSpace -> zSpace Control Panel.
  2. Select "System Information"
  3. Expand the zSpace entry
  4. Expand the zSpace Tracking entry
  5. Expand the Firmware entry
  6. Compare the information on your screen against the correct screen shot below. The items circled in red will match.
  7. If your versions do not match, please download and install our most recent zSpace System Software release. The firmware is updated as part of the normal installation process. 

Windows 8

  1. Select the Windows Start Button
  2. Select the white down arrow to show Windows installed applications
  3. Select zSpace Control Panel from under the zSpace category.
  4. Select "System Information"
  5. Expand the zSpace entry
  6. Expand the zSpace Tracking entry
  7. Expand the Firmware entry
  8. Compare the information on your screen against the correct screenshot below. The items circled in red will match.
  9. If your versions do not match, please download our most recent zSpace System Software release. The firmware is updated as part of the normal installation process. 

For zSpace 300, zSpace AIO, and zSpace AIO Pro

How to run firmware update

*Note: The firmware update option within zSpace Control Panel for zSpace 300, zSpace AIO, and zSapce AIO Pro and above has been disabled. To update your firmware simply install the zSpace System Software. The firmware is updated during installation.

Be sure you are running the most recent version of zSpace System Software for your zSpace model. zSpace System Software downloads can be found here.

  1. Launch the zSpace Control Panel.
    • zSpace Control Panel can be found in Windows Start Menu under the zSpace folder.
    • zSpace Control can be found by clicking on the Windows Start button, selecting the white down arrow to view installed applications, and selecting zSpace Control Panel under the zSpace category.
    • Windows 7 and 10
    • Windows 8
  2. Click the Firmware Updater icon.
  3. Click the green check mark to start the firmware update. While firmware update is running, do not turn off or cut power to your zSpace. This will cause permanent damage to your system.
  4. When the firmware update has completed, your display will turn off and back on.
  5. If the firmware update completes successfully, you will see a large green check mark. Click the green check mark to close the window. The firmware update is complete.
