Introduction

This zSpace Packager User Guide describes how to create, customize, and unpack packages containing zSpace content. zSpace content includes activities and models for use in zSpace Studio.

This guide is intended for zSpace customers and licensed content creators.

If you are a zSpace customer installing Studio content from packages, see chapters 1, 2, and 3:

Prerequisites

  • You need to have zSpace App Manager installed on your zSpace computer.
  • You need to have the latest version of zSpace Studio installed and licensed.

1. Install Packager

Complete this section to install the latest version of zSpace Packager.

Note: You do not need a zSpace Packager license to unpack content. If you are creating packages you need a license, see Activate Packager License.
  1. If you do not have zSpace Packager installed, open App Manager and install Packager from the list of Available Software.
  2. Start zSpace Packager from the desktop icon.

  3. If zSpace Studio is not installed, Packager displays an error message. Install zSpace Studio using App Manager.
  4. If zSpace Studio is installed, Packager opens normally.

2. Unpack Packaged Content

Complete this section to unpack zSpace Packaged content (activities and models). Unpacked content is immediately available in zSpace Studio.

  1. Navigate to the packaged content you want to unpack and double-click on the file.

  2. The packaged content opens in zSpace Packager.

  3. Click Unpack. Packager displays real-time status as it unpacks the content, and a success message when complete.
  4. When unpacking is complete you can choose to Open Studio (closing Packager), view the advanced Packager screen, or Close Packager.

You can now access the unpacked content from Studio.

3. Unpack Specific Packaged Content

Complete this section to unpack selected models and activities from a zSpace Package. Unpacked content is immediately available in zSpace Studio.

  1. Navigate to the packaged content you want to unpack and double-click on the file.

  2. The packaged content opens in zSpace Packager.

  3. Click Customize. Packager expands to display details including Package Name and Publisher Name, Status, Name of content, Type of content, Date created, Publisher name, Category, Application, Application Version, and content file Size.

    You can filter content by New/Updated, Activities, Old content, and Models.
    You can customize content by selecting one or more lines from the Source panel (left). Click to select single items. Press Shift+Click or Ctrl+A to select multiple items. Click Add / Update to move the selected content to the Destination panel (right).
    Once content is in the Destination panel you can select one or more lines and click Remove, or return to the original state by clicking Reset.

    Source panel status indicators:
    image15.png New or Alone Content – A new activity or model that appears in the source, but not in the destination.
    image1.png Newer or Updated Content – An activity or model that appears in both panels, but the source content is newer than the destination.
    image21.png Synced or Saved Content – Appears after you click Save to commit changes from the source to the destination.
    image7.png Restricted Content – A zSpace or partner branded activity that cannot be changed, moved, or deleted. It can only be unpacked.

    Destination panel status indicators:
    image17.png Pending Update – An activity or model that will be overwritten when you save changes.
    image2.png Pending Addition – Activities and models that you have added, but not saved.
    image4.png Pending Removal – An activity or model that will be removed when you unpack.
  4. Click Unpack to unpack all content appearing in the destination panel. Packager displays real-time status as it unpacks the content, and a success message when complete.
  5. When unpacking is complete you can choose to Open Studio (closing Packager), view the advanced Packager screen, or Close Packager.

You can now access the unpacked content from Studio.

4. Activate Packager License

Important: This section is intended for licensed content creators only.

From the Manage License feature you can activate a license, check for license updates, and deactivate a license. To create packaged content, you need to activate a valid license.

  1. Start zSpace Packager from the desktop icon.
  2. Click File > Manage License > Activate License.

  3. Enter the valid license key in the License Key text box and click Activate License.
  4. Close the Manage License dialog box.
    zSpace Packager validates the license key and displays the results.

Check for License Updates

  1. Start zSpace Packager.
  2. Click File > Manage License > Check for Updates.
    Packager displays a dialog box letting you know if your license if up to date, or needs to be updated.
  3. Close the dialog boxes.

Deactivate a License

Note: Deactivating a license applies only to the Create Packaged Content function. You do not need a license to Unpack Packaged Content or Unpack Specific Packaged Content.
  1. Start zSpace Packager.
  2. Click File > Manage License > Deactivate License.

  3. Click Deactivate License.
    Packager displays a dialog box asking Are you sure you want to deactivate your license?
  4. Click Yes to deactivate your license. The Manager License refreshes with no license key.
  5. Close the Manage License dialog box.

5. Create Packaged Content

Important: This section is intended for licensed content creators only.

This section describes how to create new packaged content. If this is the first time creating a package, you must Activate Packager License before you can create a package.

  1. Start zSpace Packager from the desktop icon.
  2. Click Packager to display packager options.
  3. To create a new package, click New. Packager clears all previous content and shows available models and activities. The location for retrieving new unpackaged content is the zSpace Studio offline state.
    To edit or add content to an existing package, click Open. Navigate to a package you want to open or modify.
  4. Make changes to an existing package or set up new content to package. Make sure the Destination panel displays the content you want to package.
    Packager expands to display details including Package Name and Publisher Name, Status, Name of content, Type of content, Date created, Publisher name, Category, Application, Application Version, and content file Size.

    You can change or enter the Package Name and the Publisher Name.
    You can filter content by New/Updated, Activities, Old content, or Models.
    You can manage the package as follows:

    image8.png Open an existing package.
    image27.png Save package in current state.
    image9.png Save As using a new name for package in current state.
    image12.png Close the current package without saving. Clears all content.
    You can customize content by selecting one or more lines from the Source panel (left).  Click to select single items. Press Shift+Click or Ctrl+A to select multiple items. Click Add / Update to move the selected content to the Destination panel (right).
    Once content is in the Destination panel you can select one or more lines and click Remove, or return to the original state by clicking Reset.

  6. Submit new packages to zSpace to be reviewed, approved, and signed.

Note: If you edit and save a previously signed package, the package loses signed status and needs to be re-submitted to zSpace to be reviewed, approved, and signed.
