Changing Language Settings in zSpace Applications

With the Summer 2017 release, zSpace now provides additional language support for our STEM applications. The following article assists users in changing the language settings in the zSpace applications, modifying the keyboard input, and changing the OS Language if necessary.

To simply use zSpace applications in a different language, you just need to change the language in the application. No other changes are required.

To utilize a specific language keyboard, you will need to enable that setting in the OS.

If you wish for all accounts including the system to display in a completely different language, please follow the instructions on "How to change the language in zSpace applications".

These instructions are specific to Windows 10 and the zSpace AIO with multi-language packs installed.

How to change the language in zSpace applications

The following example will cover changes to the language in zSpace Studio, however, the same steps can be used to change the language in:

  • zSpace Studio
  • zSpace Newton's Park
  • zSpace Franklin's Lab
  • zSpace Curie's Elements
  • zSpace Euclid's Shapes
  • All zSpace Experiences
Note: Changing the OS language is not required in order to change the language for zSpace applications.
  1. Launch zCentral
  2. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, click on the language selector.

  3. Select the language you want to use from the options displayed
  4. When any zSpace applications are launched, the applications will open in the selected language.

How to adjust the keyboard input language setting

Windows 10: Changing keyboard layout

It is possible to configure your keyboard to use different language and keyboard formats. You can add multiple keyboard layouts and switch between them when needed. Use the following steps to add a language, set a default language, and switch between keyboard layouts.Add a keyboard language

  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Select Time & language.
  3. Click Region & language.
  4. Select Add a language.
  5. Choose the language you want to add and select a country for the language.

Set a default keyboard layout

  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Select Time & language.
  3. Click Region & language.
  4. Under Languages click the language you want as default and click Set as default.

Switch keyboard layouts

  1. Press and hold the Windows key while you press the Spacebar to change the language.

How to change the language globally on your PC

Before we go on, it's important to note that if you're using a Microsoft Account, this preference will sync across devices. If you only want to change settings on one particular computer, you should go to Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings and turn off the Language preferences option.

  1. Use the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.
  2. Click Time & language.
  3. Click Region & language.
  4. Under Languages, click Add a language.

  5. Click the language you want to add, and select the specific variation if applicable.

  6. Select the new language and click Options (and download any the language packs as necessary).

  7. On Region & language, select the new language, and click Set as default.

  8. If applicable, under Country or region, select your location to enable the Windows 10 to give you local content.
  9. Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Control Panel.
  10. Click Add a language.
  11. Click the Advanced settings link in the left pane.

  12. Click the "Apply language settings to the Welcome screen, system accounts, and new user accounts."

  13. On the Administrative tab, under the "Welcome screen and new user accounts", click the Copy settings button.

  14. Check the Welcome screen and system accounts and the New user accounts options.
  15. Click OK.

  16. Click OK again.
  17. Reboot your computer and upon restart, you should see the new default language globally set through the operating system.
